International riders, perfect conditions and ground in the cross country, bride sunshine with a moderate breeze – the weekend in Hornsmühlen in Schleswig-Holstein (Northern Germany) was perfect.

Riders and spectators were enthusiastic, the cross country course was challenging and the obstacles fitted the landscape perfectly. The CIC*-One Day-Event, the Gutshof-Ei Cup 2017 on Sunday, 28th May, saw about 60 starters in two sections. Tabea Johanna Henze was the winner of the first section with 40,5 penalties. She rode Payman and stayed faultless in cross country and had four penalties in showjumping. She left behind famous riders like Andreas Dibowski, Anna Siemer, Claas Hermann Romeike and Malin Petersen. „In Hornsmühlen you can ride real cross country with natural fences like the Stocksee. It’s great and fun to ride here“, said Tabea Henze. Second lay Louise Svensson Jähde from Sweden with Fidelius. She finished the test with 41,1 penalties. Lia Mazur and Replay became third (44,2). In the junior/young rider section Marie Kraack and Havana Club won with 41,8 penalties. Kathleen Dunker became second. She rode Easy Boy and received totally 50,8 penalties. Annekatrin Franzky and Maxima were third (54,9).
The 3120 meter long challenging and hilly cross country course was built by course designer Christian Zehe and Axel Behmann. They had drafted 21 obstacles. The biggest challenge for riders and horses were the Coffin, the Sunken Road and the double trunk combination. The courses feature was the new water fence with a direct jump into the lake Stocksee, a unique feature in Germany. The Course designers setup the course with the new Swedish MIM-Safety-System.
Swedish rider Malin Petersen was ungrudging: „Hornsmühlen is a fantastic event. I came here since eleven years and every year the event is improving a little bit more. The organisers do a great job and I’m looking forward to 2018.“
